This is the first space when getting off the elevator. It is a semi-open space, in order to prepare a contrast with other spaces to create the experience of expansion. Therefore, the illumiation here is relatively dark.

This image shows the space after the first semi-open space and the columns leading to the main open space.

Then, we come to the main open space, the process of reaching destination is completed. This process emphasizes on the experience of expansion by constrasting following space seqence, hence, semi-open space---small complete open space---colums(more enclosure)---main complete open space. The feeling of expansion is enhanced gradually.

This image shows the right branch which is the same structure as the left one, however, the point i want to state here is the glass triangle. The reason for this design:
1. Spatially speaking, it creates an open space to the sky, visually leads people to look upward, as a complement to the horizontal open space under the roof.
2. The reversed triangle give people a feeling of expansion, because from bottom to top, the area increases. The symbolism meaning of it is that power is accumulated from the client then released.
3. The material used here is glass, aiming at introduing natural light and giving another visual perception.
This image shows the axis. The increasing height of steps and columns represent the expansion power, the texture used in the roof contributes to the idea as well. There is a point i want to point out that in this experiment i tried to incorporated some culture elements, as the upper space is designed for a Chinese client, i applied some Chinese architecture elements, such as colour red, colums, symbol patterns. Although it is not the main concern in designing, i want to challenge it. In reality, architecture reflects culture background to some extent.
This is the view of the main space from back

This image shows how the elevator interacts with upper space
