The project is located in Netherland the Northern Hemisphere, wrapped by the sea, which not only provide a romantic environment for two lovers but also echoes the rhythm of music and leaping notes by its waves or movement

The opening on the back, which can be viewed out to the sea.

The room for the gentleman is characterized as open, transparent, fitting the man's charater which is brave, and takes the initative.

The room for the girl, light can shine into through the glass walls, solid timber walls make a contrast with glass. Because the girl is more shine, she needs more privacy than the man, also, the more leaping walls fit the girl's psychological actions.

Opening:
windows in this project are not like conventional windows in the buildings, it is better to call them as openings. Openings in this project, are created according to the music, the staff the notes. in other words, they are totally realted to music, shadows formed by them also have rhythm which are easier to be identified. The openings in contrast with the solid, play a game of positive and negative spaces as well. As you moving through, changing is occuring all the time, dark and light, narrow and wide, long and short, all these are associated with openings, providing sense of rhythm.

Project 2---Process of design

The virginal inspired my design, the rectangular shape, the keyboard....

I used the staff of music "Romance of Love" as the foundamental platform for all later structures to be built on.

The movement of the leaping notes on the staff ( Associated with two rooms for the girl and the gentleman to walk through to the meeting place)

The intervals of notes (Associated with the projecting layers and roof of the meeting room)

Project 2---Narrative and Drawings

Narrative

A hall for a girl and a gentleman to meet each other, where they play virginal, using music to communicate, experiencing love embodied with in music.

Explaination of concept:

In this project, the design strategy is a highly specific response to architectural representation of music. In another word, the characteristics of music such as rhythm, beat will be architectually reflected. based on the staff of the song "romance of love". all structures are generated. the two wing rooms, which are the access to the meeting place for the girl and gentleman respectively, comprise many seperate walls. the notes on the staff became the free space for moving through, while, leaving the other spaces as walls.as a result, the flowing of leaping notes and melody is perceptible as moving through, simultaneously, the changing of light and shadow effect echoes the action of playing the keyboard. the meeting space also deal with the staff, but with the intervals of notes, the layers which symbolize the staff stack on one of another, the length of the projections followed the intervals of notes, people can not only visually feel the rhythm of music as the space is getting wider but also physically experience music by taking steps up which have varying dimensions of treads and risers. the facade opening is a transformation of the way how notes lie on the lines, while the vertical roof openings have a similar strategy as how the meeting space being built.

Project 2---Phase One

Narrative unrevised

A hall for a young girl of 18 year old to meet a suitor who is an aristocratic gentleman. They play virginal there, using music to communicate spirtually, experiencing harmonious love.

Tadao Ando's long corridor is the element that i want to experiment in my project, because it provides a journey for someone to more focus on his spirtual world, his mind will go peace

This wall with significant amount of small holls inspired me a lot, i think its changing focuses, along with small size will fit the girl's phycology, which is want to see the gentleman, but because of her shine, she needs some pricacy.

Issues rised up
1. the organic form has weak relationship with the narrative
2. the circulation is too complex

After consulting with tutor, my desicion was to revise the narrative a little making it more focus on music rather than spirtual love, because i found that there is a lot of potential to do with the form and music. then use relatively simple circulation to avoid confusion caused by complexity, distrating the core idea as well.
