WEEK 2---model 2

the two words are "advance" for upground, "harmony" for underground

WEEK 2---stairs sections

WEEK 2---second edition of model 1

This edition is constructed following appropriate scale, the word " advance" for upground section can be expressed by the extending shapes. It also determines the materials selection, such as glass and steel(their properties fit the meaning of "advance"). the word "flow" for underground can be shown from the curvilinear shapes and the stair as well.

This is a house designed by myself last year. Because I am very interested in architecture since I was in middle school, I always draw some buildings when I am free after class. The inspirations for this one is derived from the sea, I wanted to create a house that located at the seaside back then, after got the this idea I thought this house must fit the environment especially the sea, as a consequence, there are lots of curvilinear and organic shapes to make up the whole. What i tried to show from the house is freedom, comfort and the beauty of sea. I applied stripes of wood, tile shards and glass to make it more likely to be a part of nature. Actually I think I was sort of inspired by Antoni Gaudi, but during the designing course, I didn't try to imitate his style, I was trying to design the house as my willing, my preferences. In my opinion, to be oneself is very important for every architect.

This glass pyramid was designed by I.M.Pei, he was born in China, then went to America when he was 17, I am proud of him because he proves that Chinese can be outstanding architects, trying to reach his height would be the aim for my whole life, no matter succeed or not. I remember when I saw this pyramid for the first time, it didn't give me a deep impression. Actually, most French thought the pyramid and the old buildings were not a unity after it began to open to the public, critical comments came out. However, citizens gradually accepted it as time goes by, the glass pyramid became a famous landmark of France as well. I've also changed my attitudes towards it, in fact, they fit each other so well. Personally I think, the materials he chose is the key of success, it allows light go through it, creating a sense of mystery and space, that quite fits the museum of Louvre. Of course, the shape is outstanding too, simple but full of architectural beauty.

This is a photo I took several years ago, it is a famous historic relic located in Yunnan province in China. I like it because all the things in the photo are perfectly harmony and co-existing. Everytime I see it, I feel like I am coming back to that place again. The shadows of the plants and towers reflected on the lake seems like a fictitious world. The towers have beautiful shapes, they are the essences of Chinese architecture. All in all, it is the most beautiful picture that I' ve ever took.
